Dwangs or Noggins?
I have spent most of today nailing in dwangs, or ‘dwanging’ to use the active participle. This is a picture of what a dwang looks like (highlighted in purple). Dwangs are also called noggins by some folk, it depends where they come from.
Trouble is these dwangs are nothing to do with the farm house renovation I am supposed to be doing, they are in the house next door, but hey ho there you go.
We were nailing by hand. Shaun (the carpenter) was upstairs using a Paslode nail gun. The sound of the brutally efficient nail gun made every missed hammer blow even more annoying. Whap! one nail in, Whap! and another. I wished I had a nail gun all of my very own until the guys told me about the time when one of Shauns assistants nailed his hand to a board.
Had the car fixed as well today. We had the car serviced before we came to Arran, but the garage in Halifax missed the fact the exhaust was a bit blowy (useless gits).
