Mensa Practical
The roof has finally been re slated, a ‘two week’ job that has taken over two months to complete.
The recent clement weather has meant the slaters have been able to work for a solid week, without any rain stopping play.
On the downside, today I had to take down the scaffolding on my Jack Jones.
All went well until it came to the final bits of scaffold (see picture). This posed a puzzle worthy of Mensa ‘Remove the heavy iron scaffold without any of it falling on your head - ten points for a correct answer’.
I got the ten points by allowing one set of uprights to fall one way, whilst pushing the other set in the opposite direction. Smashing!
The front of the house now looks like a bomb has hit. There must be a least two tons of slate fragments to clear up (have you ever tried to shovel slates?), as well as the scaffold to stack and pieces of nail ridden wood to dispose of.
A couple of days should see it done.
