Will We See 2007?
In about two hours a few of us are going to set off to a new years eve party at the local village hall.
That is if the wind doesn’t blow us all away first. You can see from this picture I just took from the BBC weather page, that in common with much of the UK we are suffering with a bit of post Christmas wind (Arran is highlighted in red).
The lights have been flickering all evening and we have just found out that some of the island is suffering a power cut.
Being close to the coast is great but it does mean that the wind tends to be a little rough at times (no hills and valleys to slow things down).
Ruth and Abigail are staying at home. John Luke and I are having a lads night out on the village.
There is a tradition called first footing on old years night, where it is deemed to be good luck for the darkest haired person you know to visit you just after midnight with a lump of coal some salt and bite to eat.
As I am very dark in the hair department, one of the neighbors has asked me to do the ‘first footing’ for their new year.
I need to get some coal quick!
