Digging Our New Vegetable Beds
For the last two days we have been making our new vegetable beds.
We decided the beds should be raised so they are easier to work. Luckily we had plenty of old floorboards from the farmhouse to use.
I haven’t used any wood preserver on the boards so they will only last a couple of years before they start to rot. When they do I will make the beds out of something more substantial.
We had a load of topsoil to use in the beds (from when we dug out the shed base), and have riddled it to remove stones and stuff.
All of this hard work was closely watched by the pregnant sheep (and one little lamb) in the field next door. You may just be able to make them out in the picture above.
Update: The little lamb now has a friend who was born sometime yesterday. Soon there will be a bunch of them doing lamby, playful, jumpy things.
