Tree Life
To combat summer holiday boredom, John Luke’s grandad and I have spent two days building John Luke a tree house.
There is no roof as yet, but when it is complete it will be a weatherproof den for people of all ages.
All the ‘grown ups’ have decided that when things get a little fraught in their own homes, the tree house will be the perfect little bolt hole.
John Luke and I are also planning to build a trebuchet near to the tree house, and a crossbow mounted somewhere in the tree house.
With these weapons we hope to be able to repel any attacks our (imaginary) enemies may mount.
For me, the crossbow is the less exciting of the two weapons. John Luke’s uncle, Reuben, has some experience with bow making, so I will leave it to him to build.
The trebuchet is far a more exciting project. I like the idea of flinging rocks, stones and burning missiles around the place.
